Type: Gallery Range

Danger area: Full Danger Area (FDA)

Distance: 5m – 75m


  • 3 bays located on the left hand side of Stickledown range between the 800x and 900x firing points.
  • LH Bay: 6 collapsible barricades and 10 turning targets (2x banks of 5)
  • Centre Bay: 15 turning targets (3x banks of 5) and a moving target
  • RH Bay: NRA events only, consisting of 4 static target lanes

Opening Times

The Ranges are open every day except for Mondays. Start and end times are signalled by
the hooter. The times vary as follows:

Low Season

Follows Greenwich Mean Time dates

08.30-12.30 & 13.30-16.00
(dependent on light. 1630 in March)

08.30-12.30 & 13.30-16.00
(dependent on light)

High Season

Follows British Summer Time dates

08.30-12.30 & 13.30-16.30

08.30-12.30 & 13.30-17.30


Type: Rifles; gallery rifles, shotguns and pistols by special arrangements only
• Maximum Muzzle Velocity: 1000 m/s (3280 ft/s)
• Maximum Muzzle Energy: 4500 J (3319 ft/lb)
• HME Permitted: 4500J – 7000J HME procedures apply
Special Requirements:
• Large calibre hunting rifles will be permitted during NRA organised and pre-announced events. They are not permitted for routine shooting.
• Section 5 firearms is permitted with prior permission in writing from the CE personally. The request to fire Section 5 firearms must be in writing and must detail the type of firearms and personnel attending.


Available on the gravel area to the rear of the firing point.
