COUNCIL FOR CADET RIFLE SHOOTING

COMPETITIONS OFFICER

INVITATION TO APPLY FOR THE ABOVE POST

Location: Derby Lodge, National Shooting Centre, Bisley, Surrey GU24 0NY. Salary: £30K gross annually. Type of employment: permanent and full-time.

1. The Role. The Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting promotes and organises the sport of target rifle shooting across the 4 cadet youth movements (the Combined Cadet Force, the Sea Cadet Corps, the Army Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps). The role of the Competitions Officer is to work with, and under, the Shooting Manager to ensure the efficient planning, organisation and execution of all CCRS shooting activities throughout the year. This is an exciting opportunity for those who are passionate about contributing to the development of young people and helping them become responsible citizens.

2. Deliverables. Main tasks will be:

a. Work with the Shooting Manager to plan, organise and oversee: national finals across the major shooting disciplines, winter postal competitions, courses and conferences.

b. Assist with the selection of UK international teams; help with the hosting of teams visiting the UK.

c. Manage and control rifles, ammunition and other equipment. Secondary duties will include health and safety and security.

3. Required attributes/skills/knowledge. Main requirements are:

a. Possess the personality and character to integrate easily into a successful team.

b. Intelligent, reliable and able to reach balanced decisions.

c. Experience of shooting and range work and working safely with rifles and ammunition.

d. Effective verbal and written communicator; user capable with MS Office.
