The 2022 Commonwealth Shooting and Archery Championships which were due to take place in January 2022 at Chandigarh, India have been cancelled. The decision was taken by the Commonwealth Games India Executive Board, with the support of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).

The cancellation, although very disappointing, is not surprising with the continuing uncertainty created by the COVID pandemic.

We hope the CGF will build upon the innovative plans that led to shooting and archery being hosted in India alongside the Games in Birmingham. Allowing cities to co-host the Games, with events taking in locations best suited to the sports facilities of different countries, offers exciting opportunities to sustain the Commonwealth Games’ reputation as a major multi-sport international event.
