NRA Chief Executive Andrew Mercer and committee members of the King’s Lynn St. Michael’s Rifle & Pistol Club (KLSM) attended the Norwich auction of West Raynham range today. To our considerable frustration the auctioneer announced the former airfield lots had been sold just as the auction was due to start.

The club has been developing the barrack range over the last two years and only became aware of the freehold sale last week. After extensive discussions with the club, NRA trustees approved the purchase of the range to secure the long term future of shooting.

Andrew Mercer said “West Raynham presented a rare opportunity to acquire the freehold interest in an outdoor  range. In our discussions with KLSM we were impressed with their enthusiasm and commitment to invest both time and resources for the benefit of their members. With growing interest in shooting the NRA remains committed to maximising range capacity away from our Bisley home. Whilst disappointed with the cancelled auction we remain confident that the club, through its excellent local contacts, will maintain a good relationship with their new landlord and secure shooting for their members and guests on West Raynham range”.
