Firing Point Maintenance

As you may be aware the turf on the firing points is in need of some TLC and as such we have recently started on our firing point maintenance programme. Due to winter conditions this has not been possible over the quieter months of the year. Unfortunately this will cause some disruption to shooting over the next couple of months but we have tried to minimise this where possible. As such the following plan will be taking place:

Century Range

  • 100x (Butts 19), 200x (Butts 18/19), 500x and 600x the front half of the firing points will be taped off, lane pegs moved back a couple of meters and pegs to be reinstalled. Therefore all shooting can continue at these distances, albeit from slightly further back. This plan has already commenced.
  • 300x the firing point is unfortunately not deep enough for us to do the same. Therefore we will be starting with Butt 19 and place a temporary firing point slightly in front of the regular 300x firing point. This will begin from the 18th March. The temporary firing points will consist of:
    • Lanes 106 – 108 covered by the shooting trailer
    • Lanes 103 – 105 consisting of a raised wooden firing point (similar to a stage) which will permit 2x shooters per lane
    • Lanes 101 – 102 No shooting permitted due to trench on range floor
    • Lanes 99 – 100 also consisting of the raised wooden firing point
    • Lanes 97 – 98 No shooting permitted due to safety space
  • Access to the 300x firing points will be marked off and taped where necessary

Stickledown

The two areas that we will  be treated are 900x lanes 22 – 29 and 1000x lanes 39 – 50.

  • Weekdays the entire range will all be at 900x. Lanes 23 – 29 will consist of the raised wooden firing points. 1x shooter per lane
  • Weekends we will be attempting to flip the range where possible (i.e. 1000x in the middle of the range and 900x on the right hand side)

Access to the 900x firing point is to be from the right hand side of the range past the clock tower

The 1000x area will be taped off and all vehicles kept off the range floor. We will also be filling in the pot holes at the 1000x point and car park area.

Please do not walk/drive on the areas that are taped off. This will only cause a delay in the reopening of firing points.

Please do not stand on the temporary firing points.

If your booking has been affected through a change in distance required or now being placed on a temporary firing point you will receive an email from the range office stating this.

We expect all shooting to return to normal from May.

Sorry for any incovenience caused
