I have been honoured by the Council of the National Rifle Association with the Captaincy of the Great Britain Rifle Team to Canada 2027. It will be a privilege to lead the Team and I am delighted that Jon Underwood has agreed to be my Vice-Captain and James Postle my Adjutant.

Final dates for the Tour have not yet been established, but the Tour will be about three week’s duration in August 2027. It is the current intention to participate in the Nova Scotia Provincial Meeting near Halifax and then go on to participate in the combination of the Ontario Provincial Meeting and the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association’s Fullbore Rifle Championships, which will take place either in Borden or Connaught.

I intend to select a Team that will blend a core of experienced shooters and coaches with several shooters or coaches making their first international Tour. The objective is to form a united Team that will compete at the highest level to win the Commonwealth and Canada International Matches.

There may be an initial Squad introduction/development weekend in spring 2026 and Applicants will be encouraged to compete in some of the major Open Meetings. However, the application list will remain open until conclusion of The 2026 King’s Final and the Team will be selected very shortly thereafter. The first formal training weekend will be in mid-September 2026 and there will be two further training weekends in 2027 and some practice matches.

I invite application from shooters and coaches from all home countries and all adult age groups to join the squad from which final selection will be made. Please register your interest by writing to me at Captain@gbcanada27.org.uk and you will be sent a link to the Application Questionnaire.

Early application is encouraged in order to benefit fully from squad development and support prior to Team selection.
