UPDATE – HMICFRS Firearms Licensing Survey

National Rifle Association
UPDATE – HMICRS’s survey.
As previously posted, the HMICRS survey is currently closed.
HMICFRS have been given feedback that the licensee survey can only be completed by licence holders in England & Wales who have attempted to apply, renew, or vary an FAC in the past 2 years, and that the dialogue boxes were restricted to 100 characters.
The survey is currently offline and we understand that a new link will be sent out. Once we receive it we will again share with you all. We are not in a position to know if any amendments will be made.
We do share your frustration but would kindly ask that any feedback or comments be directed to HMICFRS via email – HMICFRSsensitiveresearch@hmicfrs.gov.uk
PREVIOUS MESSAGE
His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) are currently undertaking a review into police firearms licensing and the systems in place to support it.
As part of this review, HMICFRS is seeking feedback from individuals who have had direct experience with firearms licensing within the last two years in England and Wales. In order to canvass people’s views they have created online surveys for both individual Firearms Certificate Holders and Registered Firearms Dealers (RFDs).
Below are the links to each survey – scroll to the bottom of the webpage to start the survey:
- Individual FAC Holders – https://www.homeofficesurveys.homeoffice.gov.uk/s/LLI6JJ/
- Registered Firearms Dealders (RFDs) – https://www.homeofficesurveys.homeoffice.gov.uk/s/CFZ11H/
We would encourage anyone who has had dealings with firearms licensing within the last two years in England and Wales to complete the relevant survey(s), as it is vital that those with relevant experience are given the opportunity to voice their views and provide HMICFRS with meaningful feedback.
The deadline for the survey is Friday 5th Dec 2025.
If you have any queries about this survey, please contact HMICFRSsensitiveresearch@hmicfrs.gov.uk
