Jonathan Djanogly appointed as Chair of General Council

National Rifle Association
We are pleased to announce that Jonathan Djanogly has been elected as the new Chair of General Council at the General Council meeting held on Saturday 28 February 2026.
A former Member of Parliament for Huntingdon and former Justice Minister, Jonathan has long been an active supporter of shooting sports.
He has been involved in shooting for more than 40 years, primarily in stalking and game shooting. During his time in Parliament, Jonathan was a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Shooting and served for almost a decade as Chairman of the British Shooting Sports Council, where he led on shooting issues and regularly engaged with ministers and government on behalf of the sector.
Jonathan represented the House of Commons as part of the Vizianagram full-bore team event at Bisley, on several occasions.
Jonathan will be taking over the role from David Lacey, who served as Chair since 2020. We would like to take this opportunity to thank David for his hard work, commitment and support of the NRA during his six-year tenure.
We look forward to working with Jonathan as he takes up the role supporting the continued work and interests of the Association.
