NRA Announces Secretary General Appointment

NRA appoints Simon Lee, MBE as Secretary General of the National Rifle Association and Chief Executive of the National Shooting Centre Limited.
The National Rifle Association, a registered charity, is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Lee, MBE as its new Secretary General and Chief Executive of the National Shooting Centre Limited. Simon will take office on 1 July 2025, succeeding Andrew Mercer, who is retiring on 30 June after 12 years in post.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew for his significant contributions over the years and wish him the best for his retirement.
Simon has an exceptional track record as a leader in charitable, not for profit and sporting sectors. For the last 13 years, he has served as Group CEO of the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC), a not-for-profit, national membership organisation for civil service and public sector employees, with over 140,000 members. During this time, Simon was instrumental in leading a transformational change programme.
Prior to joining the CSSC, Simon served as Commercial and Operations Director in a number of high-profile membership organisations. Simon also served as a non-executive Chair and trustee for a youth charity that provides extracurricular activities to over 150,000 children.
Regarding Simon’s appointment, NRA Chairman David Lacey said “Andrew’s discipline and focus means he leaves the NRA and NSC in a strong position. I am delighted to welcome Simon whose skills and proven track record are exactly what both organisations need to grow and prosper.”
On his appointment, Simon said “I am delighted to be joining the NRA, an organisation with exceptional heritage and international reputation. I look forward to engaging with members, colleagues and partners over the coming months, working together on shaping the future of the NRA for generations to come.”
