I have been honoured by the NRA Council with the Captaincy of the NRA team to the Channel Islands in 2027. I am delighted to announce that Rupert Dix, Chris Vonchek and Archie Whicher have agreed to be Vice-Captain, Adjutant and Main Coach, respectively.

Provisionally the tour will commence on May 26th, 2027 and run until June 6th, 2027, starting with a team match against the LMRA at Bisley on May 26th. The main focus of the tour will be the team matches, firstly against Jersey at Crabbe Range and subsequently against Guernsey at Fort Le Marchant.

In preparation for the tour, the team, which may include a small development squad, will be expected to attend three training weekends at Bisley following selection.

Traditionally, the NRA Team to the Channel Islands has been an opportunity for less experienced shooters and coaches to achieve their first touring cap. Consequently, our intention is to select a team which includes a number of ‘first time tourers’.

We would therefore encourage applicants that have demonstrated a good track record at club and county level, that would like to progress to the next stage in their shooting and or coaching careers.

Please send an email to nraci.27@gmail.com expressing your interest in applying for this team by 31st July 2026 and you will be sent an application form to complete. Applications are now open and we expect to select the team and reserves during August 2026.

We will also be very happy to meet you during this year’s Imperial in July.

Alastair Brown

Captain NRA CI 2027
