We are very sorry to advise of the death on 4th November 2024 of Robin Baker.

Robin was a loyal and longstanding member of the NRA, shooting and coaching for a number of teams including on the international front Great Britain, England, the NRA and GB Veterans. On the domestic front he was a member of the North London Rifle Club, the Old Marlburians, OURC, OCRA and his county Kent. He was proud of his Sovereign’s Prize record coming 5th at the age of 19 and making the final Hundred on 15 times between 1961 and 2012. He also had an excellent small-bore record representing GB, England, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya and Australia (the latter at the world championships in the 1960s in Germany). He much enjoyed coaching his teams and recently wrote an article on coaching which appeared in the last edition of the NRA Journal.

Robin’s funeral will be held at 2.15pm on Wednesday 11th December at Guildford Crematorium, GU7 3DB followed by a reception at Hankley Common Golf Club, GU10 2DD.

If you would like to attend it would be helpful if you could let Robin’s son Alastair know on almcbaker@icloud.com or 07720 425525.
