Welcome to the NRA Volunteer Network

 

In order to run our calendar of events we rely on enthusiastic members of the shooting community to assist in running NRA Competitions. If you are thinking about signing-up to, or have recently taken part in an RSO or RCO course and are wanting to gain on-range experience this is a great opportunity for you!

Chief Range Officer

Stats

Support Team

In charge of overall range safety, issues the range commands and coordinates the other on range volunteers

Required to have an RSO or RCO qualification

Supports the running of the range with roles including: scoring, re-facing targets, checking clear rifles, working the control box, organising the next detail

No qualification required

Organise & input scorecards, and produce prizelists

Assist the Competitions team with roles including: setting up and maintaining ranges, setting up for prizegivings, assisting with queries on the range

🚗 Mileage Policy

Standard: 45p per mile up to 200 miles, Additional: 30p per mile thereafter (uncapped). Applicable per vehicle for journeys from home address to the National Shooting Centre on each day volunteered (or one return journey if staying at the NSC during the event). Volunteers making multiple journeys from home to the NSC during an event can claim as a total amount of miles travelled

Target Shotgun Festival Spring: Saturday 8th – Sunday 9th March 2025

🦺 Requirements: 

Saturday: CRO to cover the two Butt Zero Bays, with 2x additional Range Team members per bay

Sunday: 1x CRO and typically 3x Range team

🎁 Volunteer Package: SEE HERE

Meals: For each session of volunteering (AM/PM) you can book in for either a breakfast and lunch in the form of: Available from the NRA Pavilion / £8 NRA Event Credit

Accommodation: in an NRA Hut, Caravan or Tent pitch for each night your volunteer, plus the day prior to arrival if required

If you wish to book your own NSC Accommodation (NRA, leased caravan pitch or other accommodation such as ATSC, St George’s Lodge etc.) you can claim back £12 per night on the volunteer claim form after the event

Volunteer PointsNew for 2025Volunteer Points accumulate over the course of the year, and are valid for 2 years. They can be redeemed for NRA items including: Volunteer Badge 2025 (10 points), NRA Teddy (10 points), Red soft shell gilet (20 points)

Spring Action Weekend: Friday 28th – Sunday 30th March 2025

🦺 Requirements: Please view the range programme for details of which events are taking place on each range. 

Friday: Volunteer/ RO Competition Day: 1x CRO and 2x Range Team per range/bay [Melville A-E, Running Deer (PM only for TS), Butt Zero (PM only)]. Stats Team

Saturday-Sunday: Most ranges require a minimum of 1x CRO and 2x Range Team. Stats Team

Exclusive use of Melville and Butt Zero on the Friday to contest your competitions 

Meals: For each session of volunteering (AM/PM) you can book in for either a breakfast and lunch in the form of: A seated meal served in the NRA Pavilion / £8 NRA Event Credit

Accommodation: in an NRA Hut, Caravan or Tent pitch for each night your volunteer, plus the day prior to arrival if required
