We are sad to announce the passing of Roland Greenwood.  An NRA member for many decades, he was recognised more as a Match Rifle shot, although he gained some success with a target rifle being Reserve for England in the 1973 National Match. He shot for England in the Elcho match in 1979, and reserved in both 1983 and 1985.

However he made his mark mainly as a coach in both disciplines, coaching GB in the 1981 Kolapore, England in the 1989 Mackinnon, and the England Elcho team in a continuous run from 1984 to 1992. He was also the team Adjutant for the 1999 and 2000 Elcho matches.

With his backgound as a Major in the Royal Artillery, he was a leading light for hand-loading when the practice was in its infancy in fullbore. So much so that he was a multiple winner of the Any Rifle in the Imperial with his rifle ” Big Bertha”, and became the NRA’s first hand-loading instructor.

He was a strong supporter of the Association and will be missed by his family and shooting friends. Funeral details will be provided once known.
