  • Blackmore Vale Shooting & Conservation Society

  • Blackpool & Fylde Full Bore Rifle & Pistol Club

The club was formed in 1962 and has now passed its half-century mark. Present day membership stands at 90.

In the early days, it was a club dedicated to Target Rifle practices, making quite the name for itself. At this time there was no home range so all competitions were held at Altcar Military Range. In the 1970s/80s the use of pistols became more common as members also had access to the old barracks range at Weeton Camp. Competitions were now following more UKPSA style action shooting (which the club still follows today with gallery rifles) and Target Rifle somewhat declined. Even so, all aspects of shooting are still followed – target, sporting, gallery, clays and stalking.

In the late 1980s the MOD closed the old Barracks Range as being unsafe. The club solved this problem by simply building its own 30 metre 6 lane indoor range on land purchased near Lytham St Annes, Lancashire where we still hang our hats. Also, the MOD have again given the club access to the Barracks Range at Weeton so we can now practise in the dry and get sun burn when the weather is good.

  • Blakenhall Gun Club

Blakenhall Gun Club began life in the early 1980s as a pistol club, catering for practical, police pistol and “general plinking”.

Since the various changes to British Firearms Law, the Club now offers indoor Long Barrel Pistol Shooting, 22LR rifle and full-bore rifle. We also have access to external ranges at Bisley and local Clay-Pigeon Shooting grounds.

Blakenhall Gun Club has two general 25m ranges designed to MOD specification in order to accommodate small and full-bore shooting disciplines. We also have one 25m range designed to MOD specification ideal for full-bore rifle “sighting-in”.

Over recent years, Blakenhall Gun Club has seen an increase in the air rifle and air pistol shooting within the club and currently our Chairman is in communication with a German Club to organise a “postal competition”. The Club Chairman has been quite the driving force behind getting the membership, both new and old, into competitive mode. With this in mind, practice makes perfect, which gives a whole new meaning to “general plinking”.

Members have the opportunity to use muzzle-loading firearms at the Blakenhall facility providing they use “777 powder”.

The club is looking to regenerate its competitive element, with the support of its membership. However we are friendly shooting club for all shooters and those wishing to come into the “fold”.

  • Victoria (Prittlewell) Rifle Club

A Little bit about our club

We are a small club, like many in this country, formed in the mid 1940s from a WW2 Home Guard unit. We still have our original certificate of affiliation to the NSRA.

We cannot claim an illustrious history with great shooting achievement in national competitions and a well-filled trophy cabinet. We can however claim a consistent history of supporting shooting in Essex, taking part in a number of local competitions with a modest degree of success.

Records show that our membership has never been greater than 15 and has normally been about 12 or 13. A small number of members also belong to other clubs and organisations where other courses of fire and other calibre shooting are available.

In summary, we are a small, very friendly, small bore rifle club that is committed to maintaining the availability of shooting as a sport in this country. We take our shooting seriously (but not too earnestly, after all it is a hobby to enjoy.)

In 2008 the club affiliated to the NRA and successfully applied for approval from the Home Office to shoot full bore rifle. Regular shoots at Bisley are now arranged.

Please email secretaryvprc@gmail.com for further information.
