Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships
In preparation for the Commonwealth Games next year in April, the shooting pairs are taking part in the Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships (CSFC) which take place in Australia at Belmont Shooting Centre which is the same venue which will be used for the Commonwealth Games in April 2018.
First day of the Pairs competition this morning. Dull overcast day, temperatures around 27 c, noticeably cooler and more pleasant for shooting than the 30+ of the past 2 days pre-event training.
Few spots of rain at 300 yds. Winds light but variable from the right at 300x but changed to coming from the left whilst we were falling back from 300x to 500x.
All the teams dropped points, which showed the winds to be rather more fickle than they appeared to be to those sitting behind the firing point.
Wales with 298.24 have their nose in front but only by a single point from the chasing pack with ENG, SCO, NIR and AUS all on 297 separated on Vβs.
So the competition remains wide open with 60 shots per team still to fire at Long Range tomorrow, results:
1. WAL 298.33 (Morris 148.17, Watson 150.16)
2. ENG 297.39 (Patel 148.23, Luckman 149.16)
3. SCO 297.36 (Shaw 148.20, Walker 149.16)
4. NIR 297.30 (Alexander 150.16, Healy 147.14)
5. AUS 297.24 (Emms 148.14, Bailey 149.10)
