2nd stage of the Pairs Match. Hot sunny day with gentle winds which again changed direction during the first range. 1/2 right was the order of the day for the first firer changing through zero and up to 1 1/2 L after about 10 minutes shooting.

After 900x Australia lying 5th overnight shot a fine score of 149.13 for a total of 446.37 to gain a slender lead of 1 point over England who made 148.16 for total of 445.55. NZA moved up to 3rd on 444.46 with SCO 4th on 443.47.

Winds were more challenging at 1000x, 1/2 L to 5 1/2 L required with the flags and mirage often at odds with each other leading to quite long stops at times. England shot quickly to finish with 589.60. Australia shooting on the next door target took rather longer and still had 5 shots to go. 5 bulls the match would be tied on points but with England probably still ahead on V’s. In the end Jim Bailey dropped his last two shots to leave England winners by 2 clear points and 14V.

The struggle for 3rd went right down to the wire with Scotland just edging out South Africa by the slimmest of margins – 1 V to take the Bronze Medals
