Disciplinary Committee – Decision

At a recent hearing by the Disciplinary Committee, the NRA alleged that:

a. In early 2017, a range user described their status as a member of the NRA to staff in such a way as to give the impression that they were a paid-up NRA member and acting as such, notwithstanding that they were not in possession of a 2017 membership card.
b. At the time they had not paid their NRA membership subscription for 2017 and were aware that was so.
c. Those two points taken together amounted to a dishonest attempt to access Bisley ranges.

The Committee found the allegations proven. The Committee further found that the actions, involving as they did a dishonest intent, fell within the bounds of para 544(xiii) of the NRA rules. The Committee considered that lack of appreciation of the seriousness of the offence had been demonstrated, and considered that to be an aggravating factor.

Accordingly, the Committee decided that the individual’s membership of the NRA be suspended, and that they be prohibited from entering Bisley Camp, both for a period of 1 year.

Andrew Mercer
Group Chief Executive & Secretary General

Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships

In preparation for the Commonwealth Games next year in April, the shooting pairs are taking part in the Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships (CSFC) which take place in Australia at Belmont Shooting Centre which is the same venue which will be used for the Commonwealth Games in April 2018.

First day of the Pairs competition this morning. Dull overcast day, temperatures around 27 c, noticeably cooler and more pleasant for shooting than the 30+ of the past 2 days pre-event training.

Few spots of rain at 300 yds. Winds light but variable from the right at 300x but changed to coming from the left whilst we were falling back from 300x to 500x.

All the teams dropped points, which showed the winds to be rather more fickle than they appeared to be to those sitting behind the firing point.

Wales with 298.24 have their nose in front but only by a single point from the chasing pack with ENG, SCO, NIR and AUS all on 297 separated on V’s.

So the competition remains wide open with 60 shots per team still to fire at Long Range tomorrow, results:

1. WAL 298.33 (Morris 148.17, Watson 150.16)
2. ENG 297.39 (Patel 148.23, Luckman 149.16)
3. SCO 297.36 (Shaw 148.20, Walker 149.16)
4. NIR 297.30 (Alexander 150.16, Healy 147.14)
5. AUS 297.24 (Emms 148.14, Bailey 149.10)
6. NZA 296.31 (Carter 147.14, Snowdon 149.17)
7. RSA 295.40 (Du Toit 146.19, Haasbroeck 149.21)
8. JER 294.26 (Horwood 147.14, Le Quesne 147.12)
9. GUY 293.23 (Persaud 145. 11, Brathwaite 148.12)
10. CAN 290.24 (Pitcairn 143.10, Rossignol 147.14)
