Rosemary Meldrum

We are sorry to share the news that Rosemary Meldrum died peacefully on August 24th in Edinburgh.

Daughter of Major Jack Crawford,  she was destined to make her mark in full-bore shooting. Amongst many accolades, she represented Scotland six times in the National and four times in the Mackinnon.

But it was in the discipline of Match Rifle where she left her greatest mark, becoming the first lady to shoot in the Elcho, the annual fixture between Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales that dates back to 1862; she ended up shooting in the match 12 times.

In addition to her prowess on the firing point, she made considerable contributions when off it. She was a tireless Secretary of the National Rifle Club of Scotland, was adjutant frequently and published a comprehensive history of the Club and of the Elcho Match.

She will be much missed by her family and many friends.

Her funeral service will be held at Warriston Crematorium in Edinburgh, on Friday, 2nd October, at 12.30pm.  All are warmly welcome.
