David Dashwood

Half Mast
We are very sorry to report the passing of David Dashwood of the Harrovian Rifle Association.
David was a talented shot across several disciplines. An exceptional .22 shot at Reading University, he represented the Combined Universities on many occasions, including a tour to the Channel Islands.
He was also a fine Target Rifle shot, competing in the Imperial for over 40 years. He made the final of the Sovereign’s Prize 9 times, coming 4th in 2001 and 5th in 2012, the same year he was selected as reserve for England in the National Match. All this was achieved despite his not always being able to shoot the full TR meeting given his duties running the family farm.
He also took up Match Rifle in the late 1980s and was first selected for England in the Elcho in 1992. He was selected for the England team a total of 8 times, the last being 2019. He was a member of the 2016 GB MR team to Australia, and shot for the GB team in the Woomera Match. He was in the top 10 of the Hopton Aggregate on several occasions, coming 4th in 1992.
Diagnosed with MND in 2024, he continued to shoot until 3 days before his death – a typical example of his understated determination.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Katie, his family and his many friends at this difficult time.
